Shameless thieving begins today!
Well, no, that’s not how the original rhyme goes, but that’s how May starts in the Heights.
First, in April, everyone gets their gardening jones on, weeding, pruning, hacking, digging, and planting like mad in our tiny window of not-too-hot weather.
Next, Mother’s Day loom nearer and nearer on the calendar.
Finally, potted plants begin disappearing from stoops, porches, and front walks. Because, as many neighbors have observed, nothing says I Love You, Mom, like stolen begonias.
Makes you wish those damn kids would just go back to dancing around poles, weaving ribbons, and heading into the woods to celebrate Beltane!
